TheKitty: CRC-native group pots, one hackathon week at a time

TheKitty started as a side-thought from the Sofia × Circles thinking and turned into something real: on-chain group pots and tontines, CRC-native, built on Gnosis Chain. Right now I'm pushing it through a 6-week Gnosis hackathon: there's a prize each week, then a grand finale at the end. It took 2nd place in week 2, and I re-enter every week with new progress.

The idea

Circles gives you sybil-resistant identity and a personal currency (CRC). If identity is already trustworthy at the protocol level, a group pot becomes a much nicer primitive: people you actually know, pooling value, with the trust assumptions handled underneath instead of bolted on top. TheKitty is that: shared pots and rotating tontines, native to CRC rather than wrapping some other token.

A weekly clock changes how you build

A single hackathon deadline is a brutal but useful editor. A weekly one is a different game: instead of one sprint, it's a rhythm. Each week I ship the next honest increment, submit it, and start again. The goal isn't to peak once, it's to keep compounding toward the finale. 2nd in week 2 is a checkpoint, not a finish line.

It also keeps me honest in public: there's a fresh, dated artifact every week, so "progress" isn't a claim. It's something you can go look at.

What I'm keeping

The interesting thread is the overlap with Sofia: a semantic trust layer on top of Circles' identity. TheKitty is the small, concrete end of that idea (a thing you can actually open and use) while Sofia is the general one. Building the small version, in the open and week by week, is teaching me more about the big one than another month of design docs would.
